The Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts is an opera house, performing arts center, and urban landmark designed by Santiago Calatrava. Opened in 2005, it anchors the northwest end of the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain. The performing arts center contains four venues for opera, music, ballet and theater, encased in a steel shell covered in white mosaic tiles and capped by a 755 ft. long 'plume' appearing to float above the structure.
