The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque sits majestically at the entrance to Abu Dhabi City Island, symbolic of the connection the Mosque has to UAE citizens. The mosque combines Mamluk, Ottoman and Fatimid styles, and features 82 domes of various sizes clad with SIVEC marble from Macedonia and crescent shaped finials decorated with gold-glass mosaic. The largest dome soars 273 ft. over the main prayer hall, which accommodates 7800 people. The burial place of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, first President of the UAE, is located beside the mosque.
