Diagonal Towers
With the early evening sky reflected in its windows, the pastel colors of Diagonal 197 seem to glow in the Mediterranean evening. Staying in the adjacent Novatel hotel, I photographed the unique patterns and colors several times, but it was in the minutes just after sunset that the building sprang to life.
Avinguda Diagonal (Catalan, in Spanish Avenida Diagonal) is one of Barcelona's broadest and most important avenues. It cuts the city in two diagonally, with respect to the grid pattern of the surrounding streets. The Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, most often shortened to Glòries, is a large square with a growing presence of office towers, hotels, museums, shopping and residential.
