Castelar Rising

from $600.00

The Torre Castelar was on my 'must shoot' list of Madrid architecture. It's clean lines and elegant design did not disappoint, providing a pristine palette for a minimalist photograph; its sculptural 3-dimensional form translating gracefully into a polished 2-dimensional composition. Its beauty lies in its simplicity.

Torre Castelar Envisioned as a kind of abstract glass lantern floating in the air several meters above a travertine podium, the office floors hang on a steel grid from an L-shaped concrete core sitting at the back. Located on the Paseo de la Castellana, Madrid's most prestigious avenue, the building resembles a minimalist sculpture, the abstract glass volume presenting as a pure geometric form devoid of scale. Finished in 1986; Rafael de la-Hoz, Gerardo Olivares, architects.

International Color Awards, Nominee in Architecture - 2023; The Shape of Things, Praxis Gallery, St. Paul, MN - selected for catalog cover; 2024; Neutral Density Awards: Honorable Mention, Architecture - 2024;
